Priorities
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) shapes every aspect of our lives and our local society. DEI is integral in developing systems that evenly distribute resources to historically marginalized and underserved community.
Equitable decision making is about taking unique circumstances into account. When everyone has a seat at the table to voice concerns and provide solutions to community issues, balance influences... political, social, cultural, and economical systems. Diverse solutions lead to smart growth.
Economic Development in Support of Small Business
Small businesses enrich our everyday lives and diversify our local economy. Small businesses and startups provide more than just jobs, they uphold growth, innovation, and provide equitable opportunities for individuals, and help shape our community. As the city of Hillsboro continues to grow, I believe that enhancing livability and equitable business opportunity through mixed-use development is key in creating vitality for small businesses.
Further development of Hillsboro's Downtown Corridor (Economic Improvement District) and the surrounding area of the Calle Diez neighborhood (10th Avenue and Baseline) promises increased opportunity. The integration of all types of uses will shrink the distance of destinations drastically and offer clusters of small businesses to improve walkability. On-going small business support, communication, and funding programs with our city ensures equitable growth.
Sustainability
Hillsboro grows great things! The City of Hillsboro is known for it's high-tech industry and agricultural heritage. These two entities are essential to Hillsboro's livability. Both assets are part of a larger entity known as Hillsboro's business environment.
These two macro and micro economic assets affect our everyday lives and require collaborative innovation to mutually thrive and support DEI. I believe in smart growth through responsible green infrastructures, renewable energy use, Intentional infill development, and regenerative agricultural programs to sustain an equitable community culture to both work and live for generations to come.
